Production line and factory setup overview
A micro/small roof-drainage fabrication project converting narrow prepainted galvanized-steel or aluminum coils into a matched gutter-and-downpipe system. The gutter route decoils, guides, roll-forms one half-round or box profile and cuts lengths; the separate downpipe route forms and closes one round or rectangular tube, cuts it and uses a dedicated elbow/offset machine. Both routes require end caps, outlets, brackets and installation-fit checks. One universal roll former cannot make every component.
Recommended lowest-entry line configuration Phase the system honestly. Start with one 5- or 6-inch gutter profile using a 1-2 t decoiler, 15-18 stand PLC roll former, hydraulic cutter and manual accessory/installation jigs. Add one matching 80-100 mm downpipe line plus its dedicated elbow machine only after gutter sales are proven. Contract coil material and 0.4-0.8 mm thickness, joint/seam style, outlet, bracket spacing and a full eave-to-drain installation sample.
Production process and implementation sequence
- Coil receiving and coating/thickness release
- Gutter coil decoiling and guiding
- Gutter roll forming and hydraulic cut
- Outlet/end-cap/bracket preparation
- Separate downpipe roll forming and seam closure
- Downpipe cutting and elbow/offset forming
- Trial assembly with joints and supports
- Leak/flow, dimensions, coating and bundle release
Products, capacity and market fit
- Many Afghan roofs discharge rainwater at foundations because matched gutters, outlets and downpipes are unavailable.
- Local cut-to-length production supports contractors with shorter lead times and fewer damaged long pieces.
- A gutter-first phase can enter below the cost of two full forming lines.
- System performance depends on profile, slope, outlets, brackets, seams and installation—not the roll former alone.
- Roof rain gutter - One 5- or 6-inch profile, material, thickness, length, outlet, end cap, bracket and slope guide - Homes, shops, warehouses and institutional roofs
- Matched downpipe and elbows - One 80-100 mm round/rectangular profile, seam, elbows, offsets, brackets and outlet fit - Complete roof-drainage installations after Phase 2
Core production machinery and line specifications
| Machine / stage | Function / value | Production note |
|---|---|---|
| Gutter decoiler and entry guide | Feeds narrow coil safely | 1-2 t entry |
| Gutter PLC roll former and cutter | Forms and cuts one gutter profile | Phase 1 |
| Accessory punches and hand jigs | Makes outlets, caps and bracket interfaces | Matched system |
| Separate downpipe roll former/closer | Forms one round or rectangular pipe | Phase 2 |
| Elbow/offset forming machine | Bends downpipe for roof/wall geometry | Dedicated pipe profile |
| Assembly and water-flow test rig | Validates the complete drainage system | Eave-to-drain sample |
Raw materials, utilities and factory requirements

Indicative low-entry investment and implementation plan
These planning ranges prioritize economical machinery, local labor and local civil works. Final pricing follows confirmed capacity, product specification, delivery terms and site conditions.
| Scope | Indicative range | Entry-plan note |
|---|---|---|
| Phase-one gutter former, decoiler and cutter | US$11k-28k | One gutter profile |
| Accessory jigs, testing and handling | US$4k-11k | Installable system |
| Phase-two downpipe and elbow machines | US$15k-38k | One matching pipe |
| Freight, installation and starter spares | US$6k-17k | Both phases |
| Indicative phased installed total | US$36k-94k | Phase 1 alone about US$17k-47k; building/coil stock excluded |
